It’s Throwback Sunday! Actually it’s just me sitting around looking at old pics and posting them on Tumblr. This is when I brought Diplo to Mangos in Houston for a show with Rapid Ric, DJ Chill and Bavu Blakes. What a dope night. Word to Gracie Chavez, pictured in this set for connecting me with Mango’s before it was ever a music venue. It was still just a restaurant, but had such a cool vibe we had to make it happen. Also word to all the venues who didn’t want this show lolololololol because they had never heard of Diplo. This was a great night all around. From standing over people having their dinner looking at my watch, waiting to move their table from the dancefloor, to the 20+ free Red Stripes I may or may not have consumed (Man holler if free Red Stripe was a BIG PART of your early-mid 2000’s lol).

Anyway, these were the daze, when it was really fun. Watching Diplo come up was a great thing as well. Dude was one of the first of his um, genre I guess, to care about the Dirty South and to really come down and do some good things. Still kinda trip out that this party was at Mango’s.

And Bavu Blakes, Rapid Ric and DJ Chill are stil three of my best friends in the world. #Brothers.

Real Houston music folk can probably name everyone in this photo set. Enjoy. And Happy Sunday.
